A letter from our family

Dear friend,

My name is Shaheen. Laila is my wife, and this shop is named after her.

Our story did not begin in a boardroom. It began in a hard season, when Laila's care became the center of everything our family does. We have three children. What we learned, faster than we wanted to, is that comfort is made of small things — a warm blanket, a quiet cup of tea, someone letting you know you are not alone.

So that is what we make. This blanket is the thing we make best, and this is a new print — a garden that runs edge to edge, with no border and no center, so it looks like fabric rather than a picture printed on a blanket.

Which size to choose

This is the question we are asked most, so here is the plain answer.

50″ × 60″ — the chair blanket. Covers one person from shoulders to feet in a recliner or armchair, and stays out of the way when you stand up. Send this one if you are picturing someone reading, resting, or sitting through a long afternoon.

60″ × 80″ — the sofa blanket. Long enough to stretch out full length, wide enough for two, and large enough to lie across the foot of a bed. Choose this one if it is going to live on a couch rather than a chair.

Both are the same fabric and the same print; the larger one simply shows more of the garden. For thirty dollars more, the second size is the one most people are glad they chose.

What arrives in the box

Every order goes out with a printed note from us. It is short. It says that your purchase helps support Laila's treatment journey and gives our family more time together, because that is true, and we would rather say it in the box than only on a website.

Two things people ask

Is it warm enough? Is it too warm?

It is a medium weight. Two of our customers went out of their way to mention how light it is, and one uses hers through desert summer nights. It is warm to sit under, not a winter duvet.

Will the colors look like the photographs?

Close. It is a watercolor print on velveteen, so it reads slightly softer in person than on a bright screen.
